About Katie

Katie Smith graduated from the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design with a BFA in Illustrative Design. She is a versatile illustrator and graphic designer who loves working with color. She is trained in both digital and traditional media. Katie is a former preschool teacher and children’s librarian. She also has a degree in psychology and a background in engineering. She is passionate about empowering young girls through education and her work prominently features women and girls. Katie lives in Denver and enjoys traveling through the mountains.

She is a member of the Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI Rocky Mountain Chapter).

Katie sells fabric designs on Spoonflower.com as Eppie Peppercorn Designs.

She's exhibited work at the Arvada Center, 40West Arts District, and RMCAD's campus galleries.

Katie has experience in digital art, acrylic painting, charcoal, pastels, and ceramics.  She also enjoys sewing, 3D modeling, and 3D printing.
